Michelle Rose Chlan, 26-year-old former teacher's aide from
Shakopee, Minnesota, has been sentenced to three months in jail for
convictions on three counts of third-degree sexual conduct for engaging
in multiple sex acts with a 16-year-old student.
Chlanpleaded
guilty in December 2011 to one of three counts of third-degree sexual
conduct in connection with the case. She serve her sentence in a work
release program, if eligible. In addition to 15 years of probation, she
must register as a predatory offender.
According
to the original criminal complaint, Chlan's sexual encounters with the
teen boy whom she had met at school spanned a period of 13 months — from
June 2009 to July of 2010. Investigating officers stated that on at
least three separate occasions Chlan drove the victim to various
locations in Burnsville and performed oral sex on the student in her
car. Chlan told police she was a teacher’s aide in one of the classes
the boy was in and knew the behavior was wrong. Chlan would give the boy
rides home when his mother wasn’t available for transportation. Sher
performed oral sex on the boy once behind a K-Mart and twice behind a
Burnsville soccer complex, according to the complaint.
In
March of 2011, the Dakota County Attorney's Office charged Chlan with
three counts of third-criminal sexual conduct. In December 2011, Chlan
pleaded guilty to one count. The remaining charges were dismissed.
Chlan
must adhere to a long list of condition including psychiatric
treatment, attend a sex offender program, submit to polygraphs as
